Seal Unit

In recent years the MSPCA have been involved in rescuing a number of injured seal pups. In 2009 the Society successfully returned Mark to the sea. You can read more about Mark in Seal Case Stories.

The Scholl Foundation have donated money for the construction of the Seal Hospital.

The facilities at Ard Jerkyll contain three small indoor seal treatment bays and one outdoor pool. The Society is greatful to the Scholl foundation who donated the money for the construction of the Seal Hospital.

Caring for seal pups can be extremely costly. As the seal pup grows it consumes a large volume of fish on a daily basis. When a seal pup has been rescued and is being rehabilitated the Society could really do with financial support and would appreciate you considering from our range of sponsorship options.

Future Plans

The MSPCA Board have supported plans to to finish the deep pool area for treating seals. As you can see from the photo on the right, the main construction is already in place, but it is estimated that it will cost in the region of £14,000 to complete. This funding will have to be secured by the Board.
